Fields, layout, and the snippet that puts it on your page

The making of it. Which fields to include, how the form is laid out, and the piece of code that drops it onto a page you did not build here.

What it does

What is on the screen

Fields are dragged in

Name, number, email, a dropdown, a free-text box. You add what you need and drag them into the order you want them answered.

It maps to contact fields

A field on the form corresponds to a field on the contact record, so answers land somewhere you can filter on later.

The embed is one snippet

You copy a short piece of code into your existing page. The form stays edited here and updates wherever it is embedded.

How it works

Building one

  1. Add the fields, fewest first. Every extra one costs submissions.
  2. Check what each field maps to on the contact record.
  3. Copy the embed snippet into your website, or use the standalone link.
  4. Submit it yourself and confirm the contact appears with the right answers.

Worth knowing

Worth knowing

  • Embedding needs access to edit your site. If somebody else built it, you need ten minutes of their time.
  • A field that maps nowhere is a field you cannot search on later. Check the mapping before you launch it.
  • Forms attract spam. Expect some, and decide what you want done with it before it arrives.
